CROOKELTY BYRE SELF CATERING ACCOMMODATION

Crookelty Byre If you've always dreamed of living in a barn conversion then this is the holiday home for you! A huge amount of work has gone into converting an old byre and hayloft into a cosy and comfortable home from home. Sleep in a four poster bed in the old hayloft with its high oak beamed ceiling, or sleep in the old wash-house where Maggie Brownrigg the farmer's wife used to boil up the family's clothes in an old iron pot. She also used to feed the farm workers in here when she didn't want them treading their muddy boots through the house after she'd spent hours doing housework. Crookelty Byre is now owned by her son Sam and grandson Paul.

Sitting Room

The old byre itself is now a cosy oak beamed sitting room with a cast iron open fire in a fabulous reclaimed brick and oak fireplace. The sitting room has flat screen TV, DVD and CD radio. Through the door into the old coal store you will find a bright new dining kitchen with a range cooker, washer/dryer, dishwasher, full sized fridge freezer and microwave.

The Byre has 3 bedrooms, 2 double and 1 twin with en-suite shower and can sleep 6 plus a baby in a cot. It has a lovely bathroom with period style suite with a bath and shower, and a skylight over the bath.

Crookelty Byre Kitchen

Outside there are a garden, a patio area with seating, and even your own stream running through the garden. This property really is gorgeous and is decorated, furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard. There are views all around with Skiddaw to the north and the Central Fells of Catbells and Grizedale Pike to the south.

Crookelty Byre is attached to Crookelty Farmhouse and the garden areas are shared between the 2 properties. There is parking for up to 3 cars for each house plus secure storage for bikes and buggies. For large parties (up to 13 plus a cot) the two properties can be let together as they have internal dividing doors which, when unlocked, allow access from one side to the other without the need to go outside.

Modern well-equipped kitchen
The Byre and grounds are strictly non-smoking to ensure the comfort of future guests. Pets and children are very welcome, although the Byre may not be suitable for all children as it has lot of stairs and some uneven floors.
