Chestnut Cottage is a quintessential English country cottage; a beautiful traditional whitewashed stone cottage with considerable character set in a stunning location with breathtaking views. It is at least 300 years old and has been in the Brownrigg family for 4 generations. Although it has recently been extensively renovated it still retains many original features such as the exposed oak beams and curving stone staircase. | ||

The cottage has a lovely sitting/dining
room with exposed oak beams and rafters and an open fire. It has a modern
well equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, washer/dryer, dishwasher,
microwave and full sized fridge/freezer. There is a downstairs shower
room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms; the master bedroom has the original
cast iron fireplace and a king size bed. It has spectacular views across
the valley. There is also a twin room with the same outlook.

There is a lovely cottage garden
and a very attractive patio which is a real sun trap and has fantastic
views across to Derwentwater and the Central Fells. Due to the hilly layout
of the garden there are lots of steps and it is not enclosed. It is not
suitable for young children to be left there unattended.

There is secure storage for bikes
and buggies and off road parking for two cars. Chestnut Cottage is completely non-smoking (house and grounds) to ensure the comfort of future guests. Children and pets are very welcome. The cottage may not be suitable for people with limited mobility due to the shower room being downstairs and the uneven and very steep staircase. |
